More Signs

Lyle, no, not quite either: this is fascinating if you've watched the dynamic of demonstrations.

These are spares.

When demonstrators decide to do weekly actions (pro/anti Vietnam war, pro/anti Gulf War One in 1991, pro/anti heathcare reform now) they hope that they will draw someone in from curiosity. "Come join us" is usually included with whatever partisan slogans are appropriate for the group. When someone turns up out of curiosity, it's important to have a slogan sign to put in that person's hands. If the movement grows, those people will come with their own signs next week, etc.

i never would have guessed. So, demonstrators are more organized than I imagined! I should pay more attention....

Seen from Europe, these signs are terrifying. Kids and grandmas have, I can only hope, more sense than the ones who wrote that.
