Burr Pond Park Walk, 3/8/20

Torrington, Connecticut

After nearly a year I'm reviving the "Park Walks" series here at WPII. These pictures came from an hour and a half circling Burr pond last Sunday. Harsher light than I usually like for in-the-woods pictures, but there was just enough haze and cloud to take an edge off the contrast while still keeping the light strongly directional.

Park Walks: Silver Sands State Park, 12/23/17

Milford, Connecticut

Silver Sands turned up in my map-searching for southern New England parks, one of only a few shoreline parks on Connecticut's Long Island Sound coast. When I arrived there was rain and sleet with temperatures just above freezing, but the light was fascinating—dark but somehow glowing. Exploration was limited to half an hour or so. I had a rain jacket, but not enough insulating layers to fight the conditions for very long. Still an interesting walk around the park, a destination to return to in other conditions.
