Only a detail, but it seems to fit the "portrait" theme.

RJ's CAFE

Derby, Connecticut

Well, used to be RJ's Cafe. Looks as though it was other things before. I had a long and productive shoot yesterday. It was a relatively balmy 50° F in the early afternoon, melting some of the snow piled everywhere. The light was unusual. It was still wintry, but the high-elevation clouds that obscured the sun did something similar to the "edge of the rain" lighting condition that I like so much. The sky blued-up at times, then went back to cloud. It did something interesting to the color of everything. More to come on both blogs.

White, with Vertical Blinds

Manchester, Connecticut

During breaks in the snow and cold weather, I've been making new photographs, many of them in some of the old factory towns of Central Connecticut. Some of these have made their way to my Working Pictures blog, but I've found that there's a subset of these pictures that's been forming, almost without my knowledge. These are similar to the kind of thing that gets the "urban landscape" label over at WP, but they're quite a lot more formal and concentrate more clearly on specific buildings. They are almost portraits of buildings, rather than urban scenes that contain buildings as just one of many elements. So I thought I'd begin posting some of these here as a separate group.
