Prints

I made some prints at the beginning of the week, and thought I'd take a first look at things from the 'building portraits' series. There is so much detail and texture in these subjects that I decided to go directly to an 11x14-ish print size, which seems to be a good choice. I want to spend a little time with these and then print some more of them. I'll also want to see how well the texture rendition works at 15x20.

I cannot get over how much detail there is in these micro 4/3 cameras. I have designated my DSLRs as dust catchers. It saves my old back and all of my smaller cameras focus so reliably.

Agreed—I think the reliability of focus is a major factor in why the M-4/3s cameras punch so far above their weight.

Have you experimented with black and white conversions? In my case, it means losing the supposedly exquisite Olympus color, but I've been very pleased with the results.

(It's not that I decide in advance which photos are going to be converted . . . not good enough for that.)

Mike, I've done a lot of conversions for the digital captures in my drive-in theater project, doing the conversion in ACR. Folks who participated in my recent 107 theaters offer had nice things to say about the prints, which were conversions from Lumix G3 captures. I've also been working on a set of winter snow scenes that I like in monochrome.
