Carl, there is 3-D about this that I can't put my finger on. do you see it? (by the way, typical NYC model - tall, skinny as a rail, hard cold stare.....)
As for 3D, this is more or less a close-up of a three-dimensional subject in sharp focus with a relatively soft focus background. Nothing unusual about that in general, but it's actually quite a rare visual strategy in my stuff.
