We interrupt the Hooker Day Parade for some more current Halloween pictures. Friday evening the Gunn Memorial Museum in Washington, CT, held its third annual tour of the Washington Green Cemetery. Costumed guides led visitors on an hour-long tour, "where the town's departed citizens [are] stationed by their gravestones to tell their tales."

Thanks for documenting a very interesting practice for Halloween. It is the first time I've ever heard of doing something like this but it seems very right compared to the over-the-top commercial aspects of our usual Halloween in the U.S. I find it quite respectful and would love to hear the stories. Too often all we know about a person is what is on their headstone—a name and dates of birth and death. Your photos are all very well done and the atmosphere of the cemetery shots are in contrast to the normal, festive attitude of the first photo.

The stories were indeed interesting. The first presenter was dressed in a union army uniform. His wife and children died in an epidemic, after which he was drafted into the Civil War, and killed. He was resentful.
Several of the presenters had real style, flair, and humor. I had no idea what to expect, but plan to do a really comprehensive coverage of the event next year.
