I have been looking at "MD #7" for a couple days now and think I have finally figured out why the 2rd one bothers me. The first is just funny - 'can you do that with a flag?'. For the second, the grave stone crosses are behind the action, the people looking away, ignoring them - which really isn't the point of MD. Maybe the 1st photo is a set up for all this...I joked '..can't do that with a flag', ignore the dead.....

Lyle, both situations are a little weird. I'm not sure what the woman is doing in the first, though it seemed poignant to me, and of course while that's *a* flag, it isn't *the* flag so I guess she can do what she wants. The second is strange because that's the city green, not a cemetery, and those crosses are a symbolic installation placed there only for the day.
