I have often noticed the 'difference' between going to an opening at a NYC Eastside gallery v. one in Chelsea. Lot more suits on the eastside and a quieter atmosphere. In Chelsea, you get a lot folks passing thru (most galleries hold their openings on the same night). In today's NYTimes there was an article about looking in museums (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/03/arts/design/03abroad.html?hpw). I have also found it interesting, that even when I am with a few friends, at openings, people like to talk about the work much more so than when browsing thru a museum. I wonder why that is?lylenoreply@blogger.com
